The Edinburgh Uni won the top of the table clash with Milne Craig Clydesdale Western yesterday running out comfortable 7-2 winners at Peffermill.
The Uni remain unbeaten for the season and consigned Ladies to their second defeat of the season. All is not lost as the objective is a top four finish to qualify for the end of season play offs. The top team after the round robin is guaranteed European hockey next year but the league title (and the other European spot) will be decided in the play -offs.
PSL Clydesdale had a morale boosting 5-2 win against Inverleith also at Peffermill. The Men now move up to fifth in the league just outside a play off spot.
At Titwood the Mens 4s got the day started with a 1-0 win vs Western 5s who made it very difficult for the 4s. Sam Jamieson scored what proved to be the decisive goal mid way through the first half but the game was tense until the end.
M3s were on next and drew 2-2 with Kelburne 3s. All the goals coming in the frantic five minute period in the second half. Jeetinder Berman scored two goals to put ‘Dale 2-0 up but Kelburne responded very quickly to equalize from a short corner and a PS. Honours deservedly even at the end of the day. This was Jeetinder’s third brace of the season, a hatrick of hatrick avoidances!
M2s completed the day against a strong Western Wildcats team. In a fast and open game a very even first half ended with Barry Kane giving Western a 1-0 lead after Clydesdale had turned the ball over cheaply in midfield. Western started the second half like a whirlwind and , with Dave Clark leaving the field after been struck by the ball, they scored three quick goals to put the game out of reach. The young Clydesdale team team kept plugging away and were rewarded with Danny Cain scoring an excellent goal to lighten the mood. It was a great effort against a team experienced Western team.
Elsewhere M5s were went down 0-2 to Giffnock 3s at Eastwood High School.
