Clydesdale Western vs. Gintra Strekte Uni HC – 12.15pm PB – Peffermill, Edinburgh
On Friday, Clydesdale Western will kick off their EuroHockey Club Challenge I campaign when they take on Lithunian side Gintra Strekte Uni HC, 12.15pm pushback at Peffermill, Edinburgh.
The girls will be hoping to get off to the best possible start in their opening game of competition. ‘Dale Western and Gintra Strekte Uni are in Pool B of Club Challenge I alongside Belgian side, Braxgata HC and CUS Pisa of Italy. Each team will play each other once, with the top two of the group qualifying for promotion Play-Off game against the top two sides from Pool A – which incidentally features hosts Edinburgh University. The two bottom sides of Pool A and B will play in a relegation Play-Off.
Clydesdale Western have been in excellent form towards the end of the season, having won eight of their final nine domestic games including securing the Women’s Scottish Plate over a fortnight ago. In terms of squad personnel for their game against Gintra Strekte Uni HC, all 18 players selected are available for selection. Gintra Strekte Uni HC will be Lithunia’s highest seed in European competition for this season.
