EuroHockey Club Challenge I – Edinburgh
Clydesdale Western 0-0 CUS Pisa
Clydesdale Western finished 2nd in Pool B of EuroHockey Club Challenge I to qualify for a Promotion Play-Off place despite a goalless draw against CUS Pisa at Peffermill on Sunday.
Throughout the entire match, both sides had chances to score goals, but were kept at bay following a combination of good goalkeeping and, unfortunately, a lack of composure in front of goal. There were chances for Clydesdale Western for Lexi Sabatelli, Emma McGregor and Millie Brown as well as penalty corner opportunities. Jessica Buchanan was called in to action for ‘Dale Western after making a key save in the 3rd quarter to also keep the Italians at bay.
However, the goalless draw means that Clydesdale Western finished 2nd in Pool B of Club Challenge I. Braxgata HC’s 6-3 win over Gintra Strekte Uni HC earlier in the day meant the girls only required a draw to finish 2nd and qualify for a Promotion Play-Off Final spot on Monday. ‘Dale Western will face Scottish league rivals, Edinburgh University on Monday from 3.15pm at Peffermill.
If you’re free on Monday, please go through to Edinburgh to support our girls in what we’re sure will be an excellent contest – good luck girls!
