The boys won 6 – 1 in what turned out to be an excellent display of fast and effective passing. Having taken a 6 goal lead the result was in no doubt as Perthshire scored their goal toward the end of the game. Goals from Murray Colins (4), Chris Mcfadden and John Joe Lonergan.
The girls showed early pressure with a number of near misses including a strike off the post but we had to wait to nearer half time for the deadlock to be broken. With a one nil lead the girls started the second half with confidence to stretch the lead to three. Again a late goal gave Inverleith some hope but it was too little too late.
PSL Clydesdale u16 Boys started their National u16 League win with an emphatic 9-1 win over AMM Gordonians at Dundee High School yesterday. 4-0 up at half time the boys continued in the second half to play confident hockey and ran in another 5 goals. They will now face Grange on March 2nd for a place in the semi-final.
The Girls lost their first game 5-2 to a strong Cala Edinburgh Hockey Club side and will need to pick up points versus Inverleith and Kelso in their group.
Scotland u18s girls are through to the semi’s of their European “B” division following a 4-0 win vs. Italy in Santander. Jenny Eadie lead the way with the first two goals – a penalty corner and then a penalty flick before Laura Page and Waverley Miller added to the tally. This win follows a 1-1 draw with Poland on Monday night. The semi final will be on Saturday.
The European u18s Championship “B” division takes place in Santander in Spain starting on the 8th July. Scotland were relegated from the “A” Division two years ago in Utrecht and will be looking to re-gain promotion to the top Division. Four Clydesdale Western girls are selected; Jenny and Alison Eadie, Jennifer Mathieson and Fiona Burnet. First task will be to make the semi-fianls and Scotland have Poland and Italy in their group.
