Clydesdale 1s recorded a first win of their Men’s Indoor National Two campaign this season before claiming a further two victories at The Peak, Stirling on Saturday.
Following on from a draw and loss last weekend, the M1s beat Western Wildcats 2s 3-0 in their first game of day. Another six points were added by the end of the afternoon with wins over Monarch 1s (5-2) and Falkirk & Linlithgow 1s (8-3). Meanwhile, the M2s were in Men’s Indoor Regional action at Dundee International Sports Centre (DISC), but endured a tough start in the morning, succumbing to a 10-1 defeat to Erskine Stewart’s Melville 1s. Alex Ingram’s side bounced back emphatically however with big wins against Kelburne 2s (16-2) and Stirling Wanderers 1s (9-2).
Clydesdale Western 1s claimed another two results to make it it four wins from their opening four games in Women’s Indoor National One on Sunday at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth. The L1s beat Hillhead 1s 7-2 before a comprehensive 5-0 win against Western Wildcats 1s. In Women’s Indoor National Two on Sunday at DISC, the L2s suffered losses either side of their only win of the day. The L2s were beaten 4-1 by Granite City Wanderers 1s and 2-1 by Aberdeen Bon Accord 1s but picked up three points with a 7-2 win against Dundee Wanderers 2s.
The M5s Development produced a superb performance in a comfortable 3-0 win against Ayr 2s on Saturday at a wet Titwood.
Two goals from veteran Spencer Cox and a single goal from Andrew Cox gave the home side a welcome three points in their Men’s West District Division Three campaign.
The M5s Development started with an effective defensive press from the front line which regularly retained possession and created plenty of chances. One was eventually taken when Spencer Cox opened the scoring in the first half.
The second half produced more of the same which enabled two more goals to seal the points – a second from Spencer Cox and a goal from Spencer’s son, Andrew. Whilst it was older statesman Spencer Cox who grabbed the goalscoring headlines, it did not take away how strong the team performance with notable individual displays coming from youngsters Tristan Robin, Myles Macaulay and Reuben Clark.
The M5s were narrowly beaten away to Hillhead 7s on Saturday in Men’s West District Division Three.
Goals from Florent Saint-Ledger and Iain Flynn were not enough to stop ‘Dale 5s losing to a Hillhead 7s side who took the lead within the opening minutes of the contest.
Despite that setback, the M5s regrouped well to regain some control in the match before equalising. Saint Ledger was the final outfield player to touch the ball in a penalty circle melee which ended when Hillhead’s goalkeeper appeared to unwittingly back-heel the ball into his own goal. But the away side produced an error of their own making not long after when a loss of possession from their own defensive hit out sent a home side forward clear for a one-on-one before duly converting. The first half would finish level when Flynn struck home a penalty corner.
Into the second period, Clydesdale 5s continued to display more attacking endeavour whilst Hillhead 7s were showing threats of scoring from counter attacks. And one such counter attack with five minutes to go gave the Jordanhill side a 3-2 lead before closing out to clinch all three points.
