In a thrilling semi-final Clydesdale ladies exit from thr West District plate competition. After taking the lead twice the Titwood side lost by 3 goals to 2 in a game which could have goe either way. The opponents, Hillhead III, who play 2 leagues above admitted it was the toughest game they have had this season.

This game brings to an end the season for 'Dale Ladies who are delighted to have won their league in convincing form. Winning all but one game (an away draw with 2nd placed Lanarkshire). Captain, Jo Armstrong is looking forward to some light hearted mixed games over the summer before starting the new season in the higher league.

1st Team achieve target

New coach, Gordon Shepherd, secures top flight hockey for the 'Dale lads. Let's not foget the players peformed on the pitch to make this target. This will mean the 2nd half of the season will be 5 matches against the top teams in Scottish hockey.

The 2nd team have had mixed results but with 12 points from 10 games look comfortable to retain Regional 1st Division status.

The 3rd team are also having a mixed season with only 10 points grom 10 games. The squad has been hit by injuries which has produced the below par results but the captain is looking forward to the 2nd half of the season when he expects his full squad to be available.

4th team performances have improved on last year with 14 points from 9 games. Captain Amour feels his squad are getting stronger as each week goes by and is keanly awaiting the re-start of the season after the break. for indoor hockey.

The 5th team are having a poor season by their standard. This is to is due to injuries from a number of experienced players. The squad lacks continuity. Captain "Biffo" Henderson is one such injured player but he will hold the squad together for the nest series of games and is sure of retaining the slot in division 3.

The 6th team have not recorded a result this season and again we can identfy a number of injuries holding back team progress. Captain 'hang 'im Gordon does see this resolving itself for the 2nd part of the season. He is pleased that he has been able to bring in more youngsters into the squad.

Ladies - What a performance this season! From 7 leagues games they have recorded 6 wins and a draw. They sit comfortably at the top of their league on 19 points, 4 ahead of the nearest rivals.

1st Team start league program

Titwood at 2.00pm on Saturday 15th Sep sees the start of the league campaign for this season. The opponents, AAM Gordonians, no doubt will remember the final game game of last season which they lost by 1 goal.

This will be a good test for Clydesdale with the new coach, Gordon Shepherd, in place. No doubt all the 'Dale lads will be out to prove their worth. We wish them well.

The 2nd team travel to Striling to play the Uni. With the students barely back from vacation we can only hope they are caught cold and the points return to 'Dale.

This is the 3rd week of the District season. The 3rd team have had 2 drawns and other teams have still to play.

2006-07 News

Final Game of Season 06-07

Saturday 11.30am 29th April at Titwood was the start of a nerve racking game for the crowd. The players, however, showed a calmness and maturity beyond their young years (well for most of the team).

An early goal settled some of the nerves and sustained pressure helped keep the crowd happy. The occasional visit into 'Dales half brought on some reaction but with few shots from AAM their was little to get excited about. With the result staying at 1 - nil at half time the crowd moved to the AAM goal end in anticipation of the 2nd half action. They were not disappointed with the action but to no avail. The game ended at 1 - 0 to 'Dale.

This means Clydesdale remain in the 1st Division for the start of next season. AAM will be in the playoff against Uddingston.

On Sunday the 3rd team played Grange Development in the Reserve Cup. With the score at full time being 1 - 1 the game went to penalty flick. 'Dale won 4 - 3 to progress to the final which is at Peffermill on Sunday 6th May 07.

3rd Team gain Promotion

The 3rd Team have been promoted to West District division one following an exciting season. In the district cup they just lost out on Penaties after a 0-0 draw with Western Wildcats III. Alsoway viewed as the underdogs in this match the team performed well above expectations to walk away with their heads held high.

Those that lasted the course got a T shirt and cream egg to round off the week. At the beginnig of the week we introduced the kids to egg and stick races. With some of the eggs not being boiled the not all compeditors completed the course. The kids and coaches are looking forward the next camp in July. See the "PHOTOS" section for some pictures.

Under 18 Indoor Squad just misses out on Scottish Cup

In a series of final's matches the 'Dale boys just missed out in winning the Scottish Under 18 Indoor Cup. Played at the Bells Sports Centre on Sunday 18th February 07 the first match was against Inverlieth. Known to be the strongest opponents the lads worked very hard to secure the victory. In the dying seconds Inverlieth were awarded a penalty corner. The resulting goal gave them the victory they required to get ahead in this tournament. Both these teams went on to win the remainder of their games. Clydesdale took silver medals in this showpiece event.

Under 18's progress to Plate Final

The under 18 team travelled St Andrews on a wet Sunday to play Madras College. With many players away on a school trip the squad was fairly young but we were quietly confident the ladscould win.
