28 January 2006 Perth

On Saturday the first team scored two more vital wins in National Indoor League Div2. Greenock and Falkirk proved tough opposition and Dale won 4-3 and 5-3 against these determined teams. Watsonians started the day level on points with Clydesdale but only secured a win and a draw in their games against Gordonians and Harris. Clydesdale's final two games are against Grodonians and Greenock on Saturday 11th at DISC, Dundee. Good luck to the boys who need two more wins to guarantee promotion.

29 January 2006 Dundee

The indoor second team finished their schedule at DISC on Sunday. A great 7-3 win against Livingston was followed by a great performance against Carnegie. The team rallied from 2-4 down to lead 6-5 late on but ultimately lost 7-6. It was a great performance on the day as four of the team were making their season debuts. The final results for the season were played thirteen, won five, lost seven and one draw. This was a creditable performance in their first year of participation.

29 January 2006 Edinburgh

The ourdoor second team were also engaged on Sunday playing a re-arranged league fixture against Heriot Watt University. Goals from Andy Allan and Mark Mclintock saw the team win 2-0.

22 January 2006 National Indoor League Division 2

The top of the table clash between Watsonians and Clydesdale saw Clydesdale win 4-3 today at Perth. This could prove to be a vital result in the push for the single promotion spot available. Unfortunately the firsts could not consolidate their win by beating Harris going down 3-4 in their second game of the day. This leaves Clydesdale ahead of Watsonians on goal difference. There are two more weekends in the season with games on 28th January at Perth and 11th February at DISC.

The second team were in action at Caledonian University on Saturday winning 5-3 against Greenock II but going down 13-4 to Giffnock's first team. The final games for the twos will be on Sunday 29th at DISC.

22 January 2006 West District Youth Indoor Finals at the Kelvin Hall

Clydesdale's youth teams took part in a magnificent day's hockey today at the Kelvin Hall. Pride of place goes to the under 16 team who defeated Kelburne 5-2 in their Cup Final. The under 14s and Under 10s both won Plate Finals. The under 16 team controlled the game from the start and were comforatbly leading 5-0 before two late goals got Kelburne onto the score board. The under 14s won an exciting game scoring twice in the last minute to win 7-6 having trailed Ayr for most of the game. The Under 10s final was rather more comfortable as they defeated Eastwood B 16-1 with every outfield player scoring. The Under 12 team lost their Plate Final 10-3 to a big Uddingston team but they did play some promising hockey. Contragtualtions to Stevie Bain and Dave Mackie for organising a very enjoyable hockey feast. Youth Finals

Firstly a straight forward 6-1 win over Falkirk followed up by a much tougher game against Dundee Wanderers.'Dale were 4-3 down at half time and then produced some fast breaking hockey to win 8-6.

The second team was also busy in Division 5 at Dundee. A hard fought first game saw 'Dale loosing 8-6 to Erskin Stewarts Melvile but the youngsters had the legs to bounce back against Aberdeen Grammar to win 5-3.

Livingston failed to show for the third scheduled game which is awarded as an walkover.

18 Dec 05- Under18s loose out.

Despite a courageous effort Clydesdale U18's lost out in their attempt to qualify for the play-offs for the west district under 18's Indoor season. Losses to Kelburne and Hillhead meant the final game vs. Stepps was academic but a rousing second half come back saw 'Dale level the game at 4-4 from a 1-4 deficit. The standard of the hockey from all teams was high with the 7-5 shoot out between Kelburne and Hillhead being the pick of the games and a bench mark for those wanting to be competitive at this level. West District Indoor finals for all age groups are scheduled for Sunday 8th January.

17 Dec 05

National Indoor league starts.

Ali Bleach and the squad will start their campaign in National Indoor League Div Two this Saturday with three games in Dundee.

1 Dec 2005 - Youth indoor

The under 10's, 12's, 14's and 16's have all progressed in either the plate or cup competitions of the West District events this year.

The under 18's do not play until this Sunday. With the strength in depth (Ciaran Crawford and Liam King away at Scottish training) the coach is still hopeful of a place in the cup.

The plan is for a finals day on 8 Jan 06 but this has still to be confirmed.

20 NOV 2005 - Under 18s win Plate

The under 18 team won the Plate competition at Peffermill following a 4-3 win over Fifers (AKA Carnegie). Goals from Liam King (2), Hok Yee Sui and Ciaran Crawford (pen) saw 'Dale lead 4-1 but as time ran out, nervousness seemed to creep in and the Fifers rallied to reduce the deficit to only one goal. In the end Clydesdale held out and many congratulations to the team who have only played a handful of games together. Many of the team are still eligible next year and with luck the team will be competitive in the main Cup next year.

13 NOV 2005 - Under 18s win over Grove Academy 3-3 ( 5-4 on penalties)

The under 18s progressed to the final of the Plate competition in the under 18 Cup with a tremendous late fight back against Grove at DISC. 3-1 down with only 12 minutes to go they dug out a draw and forced a penalty stroke decider. Gaurav Ramayya made the decisive contribution guessing correctly that the first stroke would be low to his left and his foot saved the day. All the remaining flicks were converted and Liam King scored the final flick to put the 'Dale through.

12 NOV 2005 - Clydesdale 3 - 3 Menzieshill

Graham Dunlop returned from injury to help inspire Clydesdale to their second point of the season. Three times Clydesdale fell behind by a goal to the visitors from Dundee and three times Clydesdale fought back to equalise. Clydesdale managed to score with only nine men on the pitch after both Ali Bleach and Gary Maitles had seen yellow within seconds of each other.

The 2nd team were 2-0 victors at home to Carnegie but the 3rd team lost to table topping Anchor 1-2 despite playing some very good hockey. The 5s fulfilled their commitment in the reserve cup in a long trip to play Menzieshill 3s at DISC. Unfortunately Bradley Morrison paid an unscheduled visit to Ninewells Hospital with a broken wrist and we wish him a speedy recovery. The 6s won their third game of the year with a magnificent 2-0 victory over GHK3s on the grass which may help the 5s move up the league towards promotion.

09 NOV 2005 - Indoor Training

Indoor training starts at Hutchesons Grammar School main gym hall. The sessions run from 6.00 to 7.30pm and will be taken by Ali Bleach and John McKnight. The first Indoor fixtures start on December 3rd with games against Harris, Eastbank and Watsonians at DISC

06 NOV 2005 - Last 16

The “Twos” marched into the last 16 of the District Cup after winning a penalty shoot out with Watsonian IIs following a 4-4 draw in normal time. The ‘Dale team showed their inexperience and some fatigue after Saturday’s exploits by failing to close out the game from a 4-2 lead deep into the second half. The goal scorers were Moulson (2) and Pie (fluke) and Tart (beauty). Penalties were successfully tucked away by Trigger, Moulson, Pie and Jeff Howison while Watsonians did not trouble the goal with one effort and Beefy claimed another for a 4-2 win in the shoot out.

05 NOV 2005 - First Point

Greaves Clydesdale won their first point of the season in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Edinburgh Hockey Club at Leith Academy on Saturday. Goals from Ciaran Crawford and Ali Bleach saw the Firsts fight back twice with the equaliser coming only five minutes from the end of the match. With one game left against Menzieshill before the season splits the Firsts can look forward to being very competitive in the second half of the season.

The “Twos” were held to a 1 – 1 draw by Heriot Watt University and needed a late penalty from Mark McLintock to see them secure a point from a game in which they had dominated possession.

The “Threes” lost to Strathclyde Uni 2s 1-2 despite playing some good possession hockey but lacked the guile and incisiveness up front to convert their pressure into goals.

The Fours were well beaten by a good Shields team and the Fives were ambushed by a very strong Giffnock 4s team at Mearns Castle.

23 OCT 05 - Cup Win

Clydesdale 1sts travelled to Carnegie to play the second division side, and also to teach them a lesson in hygiene! Clydesdale took away the win from Carnegie, but the match was not without incident! With a small riot being started by the smallest yet most aggressive man on the park, Graham Rocky Durrant.

09 SEPT 05 - Cup Draw

Clydesdale have been drawn away from home against Alpha Data Carnegie is the first round of the Scottish Cup. Carnegie were tough opponents last year with the score 8-2 to Clydesdale in the away league fixture last season. We wish the first team well and hope that you can get through to Rosyth to support the team on Saturday 22nd October.

09 SEPT 05 - Greaves Renew Sponsorship

Greaves Sports have long been committed to the grass roots of sport and have confirmed that they will renew their support of Clydesdale Cricket Club supporting both the cricket and hockey sections for at least three more years.

09 SEPT 05 - District and Regional Cup Draws

Clydesdale 2nd XI have been given a challenging draw against Western IIs in the district cup. This will be a great opportunity for the twos to show what they can do against one of the historically strongest teams from Regional League Division One. This game will be played at Auchenhowie on Sunday 16th October with the prize of an away trip to Edinburgh to play Watsonians IIs for the winners on Sunday November 6th.

The Threes have been given a chance to avenge last year’s exit against Menzieshill IVs with a home draw to be played at home on Saturday 15th October and the Fours will entertain Grange IVs on the same day.

09 SEPT 05 - Under Eighteens

Following their defeat at the hands of Hillhead in the under 18 cup Clydesdale are due to make a trip to Aberdeen to play Ellon in the first round of the Plate. We hope that the under 18s will have a long run in the Plate competition to make up for their disappointment with the Hillhead result.

09 SEPT 05 - Players Wanted

In particular, female hockey players are wanted to help the newly founded Clydesdale Ladies Hockey Team. Clydesdale would be interested in any goalkeepers and experienced players looking for the challenge of bringing together young inexperienced players in a new team.
